We went for our annual ice fishing trip to the cabin this weekend. The kids have President's day off from school so it makes for a perfect long weekend thing to do. Usually we spend a day or two ice fishing on Rollway and the kids catch a lot of fish. This year however, we spent one morning on Ryan lake and only Nathan and Brett caught one fish each. The cabin has more snow than we have ever seen up there. It was like walking into Narnia for our kids. The most snow we get in Ohio is about 2 inches at a time and everyone panics. It was so fun for our kids to enjoy that much snow. The next day was a major ice storm. It rained all day and made the roads a sheet of ice. We still had fun enjoying the new cabin and we brought movies and our PS2 for some inside fun. It was just good to have a relaxing weekend away from home and to see our families.

Laken and I narrowly averted that artic blast. I woke her at 1am after a news bulletin warned of the impending ice and snow. We made it back to Detroit by 4am...delayed by a frantic search for gas in Houghton Lake. The forecast proved correct as ice covered much of our Detroit roads.
